Lake Powell Airbnb Accommodations
Surf Inn Property
Lake Powell Surf Inn Airbnb property has access to areas nearby such as Lone Rock Beach, Wahweap Marina, Horseshoe Bend, and Antelope Canyon. Once you’ve passed through the town of Page, just over the Glen Canyon Dam, you’ll see Lake Powell emerge on the horizon. This small neighborhood has beautiful desert views with Lake Powell and Lone Rock in the distance.
The property is just 8 minutes from Lone Rock Beach, a perfect sandy spot to sit along the water and have a picnic.
If you’re planning on parking right along the water, make sure you have a 4WD or AWD vehicle because the sand in this area is deep & there is a downhill slope to the water.
The scenes beyond the spacious sliding glass door were truly lovely, providing a charming view of Lake Powell and its encircling cliffs. A modern and spacious interior was themed to match the name, Surf Inn.
The Lake Powell Surf Inn has 4 bedrooms, all are also styled beautifully. The entire property is spotless and stocked with all you need in the kitchen for a large family. The owners even had a little basket for things if you forgot something like sunscreen or a toothbrush. The little touches really make you feel welcome here.
Lake Powell Boating & Jet Ski Rentals
This Airbnb property offers access to a wide range of recreational opportunities that seem limitless. The top popular things to do at Lake Powell would be to get a pontoon boat rental, houseboat rental, jet ski rental, or take one of the lake tours. Below are some companies we rented from and the spots where we hung out at the beach during our stay.
The water level during our visit was at 3,573′ (MSL). Water levels will determine what parts of the lake you can get to and what features you can visit.
Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas Wahweap Boat Rentals
Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas was who we rented our 23′ pontoon boat from. Full-day rentals for our season in mid-September were $499 a day. We chose a pontoon over one of their powerboat options because we wanted to have more shade. We rented water skis and a wakeboard from Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas too and it worked out well.
We headed out from Wahweap Bay, down to Najavo Canyon. It takes about 2 hours to boat to the beach spot from the Wahweap Boat Rental Marina. This beach is pinned on the map below ( pictured above ). There are a couple no-wake zones that really slow you down but it was a great spot to have lunch and then wakeboard all the way back.
AZ Power Toys Powell
AZ Power Toys Powell was who we rented our jet skis from for our third day. We got them for around $390 for a set of two during this time of the season. It was fun spending the day taking turns on the water, exploring Lone Rock, Glen Canyon Dam, and many offshoots along the shore.
Navigating a jet ski through narrow slot canyons can be challenging and potentially dangerous, especially if water levels are low or if there are obstacles underwater. Be cautious and always check the weather. We had a storm roll in with high winds later in the day and took some time off the water until it passed.
You can’t pull up on the beach with these specific rentals, so if you plan to leave them along a shoreline for a quick break, have your anchor bag with you. Once the bag is filled with rocks, it will keep the skis from drifting away.
Family-Friendly Hikes near Lake Powell
Hiking is something we always try to do during any new place we visit. Even though we’ve visited Page many times, there are endless trails and spots to see. Since it was still in the 90s during the day, we opted for two short and sweet hikes for this visit, an unknown sand cave, and the Glen Canyon Dam Overlook.
Unknown Sand Cave – <0.25 mile hike round-trip
This unknown sandy cave is just behind the only Shell gas station in Page Arizona – location pin on the map below. I would estimate it at maybe a 500 ft walk from the sandy spot you park, just behind the station. It’s a very shallow “cave” if you even call it that, but it is best captured with a very wide-angle lens ( I used the 12-24mm Sony lens ).
The short, sandy walk does have lots of glass, so if you bring little ones, be cautious.
Glen Canyon Lookout – <0.25 mile hike round-trip
Glen Canyon Dam Overlook is a great spot to catch sunset if you’re in the town of Page. Just off the main road, it provides a great viewpoint both up and down the Colorado River. There is a short walk from the parking lot to the edge, accompanied by some rock steps and handrails. It was easy for me to navigate with our 9-month-old and he loved watching all the people and sitting with me on the rocks watching the sunset.
Lake Powell Helicopter Tours
Aside from the awesome boating adventures on Lake Powell, there’s also the chance to get a bird’s-eye view of the area! You can spot plenty of helicopter tours taking folks up to check out the winding canyons. Papillion Helicopters offers some unique tour options that let you soak in the vastness of the lake from the air.
More Adventures & Hikes Nearby
Check out hikes near the Lake Powell area, including Horseshoe Bend ( 5 miles from Page), Skylight Arch ( 14 miles from Page), and Wire Pass Trailhead to Buckskin Gulch ( 43 miles from Page).
Overall, our family had a wonderful time in Page, and we’ll be back to further explore more of Lake Powell for sure!
