Sorrel River Ranch Property & Cabins
Sorrel River Ranch & Spa is just 20 miles northeast of the town of Moab. As you drive up to the property you see that it is surrounded by spectacular colorful mesas and the banks for the Colorado River. There are 59 guest rooms, each with their own unique touches and views.
Our rustic styled cabin was perfectly situated to watch the river rafters float by. Plus, sunset in the canyon doesn’t get any better than a secluded spot like this!

The ranch is surrounded by what feels like an unlimited amount of outdoor experiences. Sorrel offers a full adventure guide for those looking for hiking, mountain biking, off-road, canyoneering, and rafting experiences. Below are a handful of the wonderful experiences in the area that we got to check out during our stay.
Sorrel Ridge Trail – 1.4 mile hike round-trip
We love to hike in Moab when we’re visiting this area. This year my limits look a little different being 6 1/2 months pregnant! I was so glad to see that located on the property was Sorrel Ridge Trail. This trail was a short scenic trail that overlooks the Colorado River and the surrounding cabins. It was an easy loop with a gorgeous viewpoint at the top.
Sorrel River Ranch | The Stables
One of my favorite parts of our stay was waking up and watching the horses out on the ranch. Sorrel is a working ranch with horses, mini horses, goats, a pig ( named Nutmeg ), chickens and rabbits! We grabbed breakfast at the property’s restaurant, River Grill, and headed out to watch all the ranch activities.
Sorrel River Ranch offers various horseback riding tours as well.
Horseback riding is definitely something we want to come back and experience once our little boy is able to join in on the fun. Same with the petting zoo area with all the animals!
Sorrel River Ranch Spa & Wellness
A massage at the Sorrel Spa was a great way to unwind from all the activities that Moab had to offer. Since I am 6 1/2 months pregnant, a prenatal massage was perfect to help soothe my sore muscles. The quiet ranch environment really adds to the serenity of their spa services.

River adventures are very popular in Moab Utah. The ranch’s activity concierge can set you up with guided river rafting trips, kayak rentals and more. Whatever your interest, this area is filled with endless opportunities to explore the canyons by water.
Sorrel River Ranch Activities
What better way to kick off fall than with a pumpkin patch! The Sorrel garden was filled with lush plants which are all harvested by hand seasonally. After the evening’s rain storm, this cool morning space was perfect to stroll around with a cup of coffee before heading off to checkout some off-road trails.
Upstairs next to the main restaurant is a fireplace, along with games to pick from and a pool table. We spent the evenings after dinner hanging out in the various spaces around the property filled with games likecornhole, pickleball, tennis, badminton, horseshoes, and of course you can’t forget the s’mores around the campfire downstairs by the pool area.
Their Epic Bar, located just past the lobby, has a menu featuring craft beers, international wines, and unique mixed drinks. With a fireplace and view of the river, it was a fun place to sit relax after hiking. I’m looking forward to coming back when I can partake in a nice glass of wine. We couldn’t imagine a better way to relax after a full day of adventures!
