After our last staycation, this place has me voting it as my top relaxing resort for summer in Phoenix, Arizona. The Royal Palms Resort & Spa is nestled at the base of Camelback Mountain and has gorgeous Spanish Colonial-style rooms with stunning patios, pool-side cabanas, and beautiful mountain views. It is my favorite place to visit when I need a perfect relaxing trip in the valley.
Why this is the most Relaxing Resort’s for Summer in Phoenix
The Mediterranean-style, Spanish Colonial Accommodations
Each room we’ve had when visiting has been unique. Themed in the Spanish Colonial-style vibe, no details were left out when designing these spaces. One bonus of this resort is that it is smaller than most, with 119 rooms, which keeps it fairly quiet for visitors. This makes it one of the best resorts in Arizona due to its smaller property size and limited rooms.
As you walk through the resort to your room, you are surrounded by lush green vines and tropical and desert plants. The saltillo walkways and bright flowers make all the common areas feel like you’re in another country. Really a great feeling for a “staycation” if you’re local.
Our room ( room 233 ) had a gorgeous view of Camelback Mountain and the stunning resort architecture. Here are some additional amenities and a map showing where it’s located if you want to book the same place:
- 2 double beds
- Private patio with 2 lounge chairs
- Patio fireplace
- A steam shower that leads to an outdoor shower and the patio
- Freestanding tub with a door out to the patio
- + all the standard “away from home” things: TV, vanity mirror, minifridge, hairdryer, coffee maker.
Just out front of our room, there was a beautiful fire pit lounge area and water feature. It made for a perfect spot to enjoy a glass of wine and relax after a long day.
Private Patio and Steam Shower
The private patio was my favorite, not only was it secluded but it had an amazing view of Camelback Mountain. A relaxing resort would not be complete without a steam shower! This shower setup was by far the coolest I have seen in a Phoenix resort. A frosted glass shower door opens up to the private patio shower and the stunning view! The freestanding bathtub also has a great view with double doors that open to the outside private area.
If the steam shower and tub are not enough relaxation, the Alvadora Spa has a wonderful selection of spa services to choose from.
Relaxing Resort Pool-side Cabana Perfect for Summer in Phoenix

What more to complete a relaxing summer stay at this Phoenix Arizona resort than to be by the pool in a cabana! Arizona summers can get pretty hot, so that makes renting a cabana a no-brainer! These shaded cabanas keep you protected from the Phoenix sun and have built-in fans to keep you cool. Each cabana has a mini-fridge as well.
If you’re like me and LOVE frozen drinks and guacamole, I suggest ordering from the Cabana Café. The frozen Antioxidant mojito was AMAZING! Their service is always great and we loved trying their spa-inspired sips.
If mountain pool views are your thing, check out the Amara Resort and Spa blog post from our visit to Sedona as well!
