Sedona Arizona is known for its amazing boutique hotels, vibrant landscapes, and delicious eateries. While most of my adventures on my blog entail a hike or offroad adventure, this one is solely focused on enjoying that boutique hotel life and RELAXING! Read on for more about this stunning boutique hotel stay in Sedona Arizona.
Enjoy a Boutique Hotel Stay at Sedona’s Amara Resort
Boy did this pandemic throw a wrench in this year’s adventure plans. It’s going on four months of working from home, avoiding large public gatherings and no traveling outside of the state. Tim and I had wanted to visit the island of Bali in Indonesia this year but all plans have been put on hold with the ever-increasing COVID cases.
Looking for vacation options that allowed for safe social distancing proved to be more difficult than I thought. I sure took for granted these pre-COVID travel luxuries. Tim and I remembered this boutique resort we had stayed at about 5 years ago and after speaking with the resort management, we felt this would be a great staycation option that still allowed us to keep safe while relaxing too!
Hotel Rooms
About an hour and forty-five minutes north of where I call home is Sedona, one of Tim and I’s favorite day trip destinations. We can get there and back without even having to stop at a gas station which is great during this time! The less stops the better.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by the welcoming staff and were happy to see all CDC guidelines being strictly followed. Staff and guests were all in masks, there was hand sanitizing stations all over the property which was great. You can read all about what they are doing to keep guests safe here. We checked in and quickly got our room.
The rooms at the Amara Resort are eclectic with unique artwork and accents that are very “Sedona”, including raw crystal handles on the dressers and turquoise colored lamps.
With the additional sanitation and cleaning procedures Amara Resort has applied to their existing cleanliness guidelines, we felt very comfortable being there.
Guest room views can’t be beaten here. We always request a room facing the inside of the resort that way we can overlook the beautiful pool, restaurant, and those stunning red rocks at the back of the resort behind the creek.
Out of town ladies, if you’re wondering what to wear in the middle of summer when visiting Arizona, I always opt for a sheer dress. It was just under 100 degrees on this day and Lulu’s had me covered. Also, my little wristlet clutch from Amazon works best for days like this when walking around town with a sweaty backpack or purse just won’t do.
Relax by the Infinity Edge Pool
I might not have missed my chance to visit Bali this year but this place sure does come close! Amara’s pool is one we have always enjoyed – with its infinity edge that backs up against Oak Creek, it’s really one of the best and most secluded spots in Sedona.
We had the pool to ourselves near sunset and as well as early morning which was perfect weather during Arizona’s hot July summers.
The resort even provides a yoga mat in your room if you’re looking to start your morning off on the lawn overlooking this beautiful view since the fitness center is currently closed due to COVID-19. Thankfully there are plenty of other options to stay active in Sedona!
If you are looking for things to do in the area, I highly suggest visiting Tlaquepaque, the Arts & Shopping Village just down the road.
Enjoy Oak Creek
Oak Creek runs behind the resort and is a great spot to relax and watch the glass-like water coast by. There is a sandy walkway along the creek that goes from Amara Resort up past some other local spots and it’s a nice stroll around sunset. It also makes for some pretty great photo opportunities!
Dine at Saltrock
One of the best parts of this staycation… THE FOOD! Sedona always has some of my favorite food and whether it’s after a hike or walking around buzzing Uptown Sedona, a great meal really hits the spot.
SaltRock Southwest Kitchen is located within this boutique hotel in Sedona Arizona and their authentic flavors are one of the reasons it’s on my “Best Restaurants in Sedona” list. When Tim and I visited over 5 years ago, and I still remember my stunning buttermilk waffle and our mimosa flight of guava, prickly pear, and passionfruit drinks.
The patio views from this Sedona restaurant are unbeatable. You get a front-row seat for watching the orange glow of the sun slowly drift off the red rocks in the distance.
And if there is one thing I must recommend – try the grilled corn! It’s a staple of the Southwest and SaltRock does it right.
My pan-seared salmon was also gone before I even remembered to snap a photo of it’s plated goodness. Safe to say Tim’s char-grilled market chop disappeared pretty quickly as well!
Tim and I look forward to coming back to visit Amara Resort in the future. It is truly a unique Sedona gem that keeps us coming back.
Not only did the staff make our stay special, relaxing, and enjoyable, but this staycation was also a much-needed reprieve from our back home stresses of our new normal.
