Moab is one of the most well-known areas for off-roading in the southwest. Check out this adventure below for Onion Creek Off-road trail in Moab Utah. With well over 50+ mapped trails, you’re guaranteed to find one you love!
Onion Creek Trail is a favorite of mine and it’s a fairly easy trail plus you get an extraordinary view from within the beautiful canyon.
Located 45 min northeast from the city of Moab, this trail offers a winding dirt road with many creek crossings. The crossings are no more than 5-6″ deep typically. There is a sign for this trail along Highway 128, about a mile before the Fisher Towers turn off. It is said to avoid this trail after it rains due to the possibility of floods in the area. We took my 4×4 Toyota Tacoma but in good weather, a car with good ground clearance would be okay.
The trail is about 11.5 miles from point to point. We went about 3/4 of the way and turned back. The end part of the trail does get more difficult the further you go.
Watch out for the white crystalized material along the banks, this is harmful to pets. Keep them inside the vehicle on this trail!
