If you’re chasing sunsets in Arizona, this place had better be on your must-see list! Horseshoe Bend in Page Arizona is a place of pure sunset bliss. It’s a very well-known tourist spot and the trail is constantly filled with people from all over the world.
It’s a 4 hour drive north along Interstate 17 from Phoenix to Page Arizona. The journey boasts some beautiful views up through Flagstaff of Mt. Humphreys Peak and also a glimpse of the Navajo Nation culture just north of the mountain.
The entrance to the park is just off the freeway, about 7 minutes south of Page. If you’re looking for a place to stay for the night, the La Quinta Inn & Suites (Lake Powell) was just built not long ago. Very nice and modern inside. They are pet-friendly as well and thats always a huge plus for us when our Husky is tagging along. Click here for the map of the area.
The Horseshoe Bend overlook sits close to 1,000 feet above the Colorado River.
This little town has quite a reputation for beautiful locations – you’ll probably recognize Antelope Canyon from the millions of photos taken every year by those who visit northern Arizona. We did the Upper Antelope Canyon Tour as you have to go with a guide to experience this specific location. I’ll post that trip soon!
If you have some more time to explore around, I suggest visiting Marble Canyon. From the top of the Navajo Bridge you’ll get a gorgeous view of the canyon and you can drive down to the Lee’s Ferry area and be right on the water. They even have a campground down there in case you’re travel by RV or living the #VANLIFE.
Horseshoe Bend Overview:

- 3/4 Mile Round Trip from Parking Area
- No Permit Required
- Sunrise – I suggest get there pre-dawn to get a good spot.
- Sunset – Very Busy. Head to the left or right for some peace & quiet.
